Hi, I'm Keita,

a Mom of three and a British/Canadian Artist.

❤︎I have worked professionally in the creative arts space for over two decades.

❤︎ My artistic journey began at a young age, influenced by my grandmother, an artist herself.

❤︎ My creativity provides for my family; I teach singing and art lessons and create and sell mixed media fine art paintings and prints, inspired by nature and human emotion.

❤︎ I lived and trained in London, working in the Theatre industry, and attained a First Class BA Hons in Theatrical Arts, which led to a career in Theatrical Design and Scenic Art for film and TV in Vancouver and London before moving back to my family’s property in Pemberton four years ago.

❤︎ I believe in the healing power of creativity, which is why I’m passionate about teaching and fostering a supportive arts community here in Pemberton.

FAQs

You don’t need to be a seasoned artist to join. The Art Club welcomes artists of all levels, from beginners to experienced professionals. Our sessions are designed to support and inspire everyone, no matter where you are on your artistic journey.
Each session is designed to last approximately two hours per week. Additionally, there may be some light homework or personal projects, and you might want to dedicate more time to it as we get closer to our exhibition date.Ultimately it's up to you and can work at your own pace and fit it into your schedule as it suits you.
Studio supplies include basic/beginner-quality access to acrylic paint, watercolour paint, brushes, palettes, paper and pencils. This is for play and exploration of new materials during phase 1. However, when we work on final paintings in phase 2, you would be expected to purchase whichever art supplies you need to complete your piece(s) ready for showcasing.
We encourage you to bring your own mixed media book or pad to maintain your practice at home and to bring to the art club. (I'd recommend Strathmore or Canson unless you own a similar mixed-media sketchbook).
Yes, personalized feedback is a key part of the Art Club experience. You will receive constructive critiques from both the instructor and your peers to help you grow and refine your skills.
Studying other artists allows you to understand different techniques, styles, and creative processes. This exposure helps you discover new approaches, ease you out of your comfort zone and inspire you to incorporate new things into your own work, enriching your artistic practice.
Yes, we hold a low-pressure art show at the end of the program where you can display your work. This is a great opportunity to gain confidence, receive feedback, and celebrate your artistic achievements. If you feel shy, you don’t have to participate. You can choose to show your work anonymously or not at all. However, I encourage you to participate if possible. There’s nothing like an exhibition to make you feel like an artist and it will give you the accountability and a goal to work towards during our time together.
We understand that sometimes plans change. Our refund policy is as follows: if you cancel 30-11 days before the start date, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel 10-7 days before, you will receive a 50% refund. Unfortunately, last-minute changes within 7 days of the start date of the first meeting are non-refundable. Rest assured, if we need to cancel the program for any reason, you will be promptly informed and refunded in full. Please note that if you decide to quit after the first meeting, the payment will not be refunded.
The Art Club is a welcoming and inclusive environment designed to support artists of all levels. We encourage a culture of mutual respect, inspiration, and support, so you’ll feel right at home regardless of your background or experience.
The initial fee covers all the sessions for the 13-week program. Occasionally, you might need to purchase additional materials for specific projects, but we aim to keep extra costs minimal.
Style is where your taste and skill meet in the middle. The first few meetings are dedicated to exploring our different tastes as individuals. As we work on developing our skills throughout the sessions, your unique style will begin to emerge over time. By exposing you to various techniques, styles, and mediums, and providing personalized feedback, the Art Club helps you discover and refine your artistic voice. Learning from studying and replicating renowned artists will also inspire and inform your own style.
